Description

When Simone de Beauvoir was nine years old and attending Adeline Desire Catholic School, she met Elizabeth Lacouane, named Zaza, a girl who immediately caught her eye. A friendship will develop between them that, on the part of the later great French writer, will have the tinge of an early, unconscious, erotic desire.
In the person of Zaza, de Beauvoir will discover all the elements that she will desire to have later in her life: courage, independence, curiosity, creative concern. Thus, this influence will prove decisive for her subsequent personality.
However, the Separators hide a tragedy: Zaza dies unexpectedly. A catastrophe that will haunt De Beauvoir forever.
De Beauvoir is sure that Zaza did not die of viral encephalitis, as the doctors wanted. She was murdered; her death was a "spiritual crime" More modern than ever, this classic novel has a special power and charm.
