Sixteen-year-old Noah becomes pregnant by a Nazi soldier and is forced to give birth. Her family throws her on the street and in order to survive she finds refuge in a train station, where she works as a cleaner. When she discovers a wagon full of dozens of Jewish babies being taken to an extermination camp, the child who has been taken from her comes to mind. And in a moment of spontaneity that will change the course of her whole life, she grabs one of the babies and runs away in the snowy night.
Noah will resort to a circus, but will have to learn to do numbers in the acrobatic hammock to go unnoticed. But this way he causes the dislike of the top acrobat, Astrid. At first they are competitors, but soon a strong bond develops between them. But as their fake identities become more and more precarious every day, Noah and Astrid must decide if their friendship is enough to save each other.
